What we collect and why. Not much.
This page says what ChalkMap collects and why. It is short because we collect very little. Last updated Oct 17, 2026.
Newsletter
If you sign up, we store your email address, the time you signed up, the page you signed up from, your browser's user agent and a one-way hash of your network address. We use the address only to send the ChalkMap newsletter and to stop abuse. The hash lets us limit how many sign-ups come from one network without keeping the address itself.
Sign-up is double opt-in: we email you one confirmation link, and you are not on the list until you click it. An address that is never confirmed is not used for anything else.
The newsletter goes out monthly at most, and only when there is something worth saying. Unsubscribe by replying to any email or writing to hello@chalkmap.app, and we will remove you. We do not sell or share your address, and we do not add the public business contact details of gyms to the newsletter list.
Claim, list and suggestion forms
If you claim a gym, request a listing or suggest a gym, we keep what you send (your name, email, the gym and any link you give) so we can review and reply. We use it for that purpose only.
Maps and hosting
The map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap, so your browser contacts their servers when you open it. ChalkMap is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as your IP address to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
