What each chain says about chalk, quoted from its own website.
How to read these: we only write a chain page when the chain's own website says something we can quote. Where a chain does not name chalk, we say so. Clubs can differ from the chain, so the front desk has the last word.
Planet Fitness does not publish a rule that names chalk. Its member rules ban outside fitness equipment and treat intentionally dropping weights as lunk behavior. Many lifters report that clubs turn chalk away, so expect a no and ask your club.
Anytime Fitness has no single North American chalk rule that we could find. Its South Africa club rules say only liquid chalk is allowed, and its US blog tells members to bring chalk if they use it. Facilities vary from club to club.
24 Hour Fitness does not name chalk in its member policies. It says rules are posted in each club and that it can limit outside equipment, so ask your club.

We skip chains that do not publish anything about chalk. For those, use our guide on how to find out. If you have a link to an official chalk rule, send it to us.
